It’s no secret NYC and LA are the major hubs for the creative industries, but the fact is that creativity can come from anywhere.
And the origin stories of many creators thriving in these cities are more layered than one might assume.
This edition of The Program will put a spotlight on the talent that rose above the circumstances they found themselves in by taking creative leaps that turned their dreams into reality.

The theme for this volume of The Program: Unexpected Origins of Originality

We knew we wanted to bring in and highlight someone who carved out their own space in the heart of their city.
The perfect person was Hebru Brantley.

The most special part about the zine on a personal note was to highlight my city (Detroit) by not only selecting Detroit photographer, Dante Rionda, but art directing his work and including homies who mean so much to me and the city as a whole.

We celebrated the launch of the zine with an interactive showcase, PLEASE DO TOUCH THE ART, at Art Basel in Miami that offered the opportunity to interact with the art up close through in-person activations.
Activations included A Touch of SSSkin: An up-close-and-personal look at Elle Barbeito’s process of using python skins to create art, You are the Visual: An immersive photography experience where guests see themselves portrayed through the lens of photographer Braylen Dion, and Art & Sound: A special DJ set by multidisciplinary artist Dom McLennon.
